Stake Baccarat Strategy Guide 2026
One of the simplest casino games with one of the lowest house edges. Learn the optimal Baccarat strategy and why the Banker bet wins at Stake.
How Stake Baccarat Works
Bet on Banker, Player, or Tie. Two hands are dealt. Each hand's cards are totalled (10s and face cards count as 0; Ace counts as 1). The hand closest to 9 wins. If totals exceed 9, only the second digit counts.
A third card may be drawn for either hand based on fixed rules. You have no card decisions to make — Baccarat is entirely a bet-and-watch game. Strategy lies entirely in bet selection and bankroll management.
Stake's Baccarat Original is provably fair — card placements are committed to a cryptographic seed before each hand begins.
Best Baccarat Strategies
Always Bet Banker
Banker wins approximately 50.68% of the time vs Player's 49.32%. At 99% RTP (Stake Originals), the Banker bet is the highest-EV choice in Baccarat. Stick with Banker as your primary bet across all sessions.
Avoid Tie Bets
The Tie bet pays 8:1 or 9:1 but wins only ~9.5% of the time. Even at 99% RTP, Tie bets carry significantly higher variance. They're mathematically inferior to consistent Banker betting over any session length.
Flat Bet — Never Chase Streaks
Baccarat streaks (Banker runs, Player runs, chops) appear meaningful but are statistically random. Increasing bets because Banker 'is due' or 'is on a run' has no mathematical basis. Flat betting at a fixed stake is optimal.
Set a Session Win Target
Decide on a profit target before you start — typically 20–30% of session bankroll. Once you hit it, stop. Baccarat variance can rapidly erase winning sessions. A pre-committed exit point protects profits.
Keep Bets at 1–2% of Bankroll
Each hand should represent 1–2% of your session bankroll. At this size, a 50-hand session is easily achievable even through an extended losing streak, giving variance time to self-correct toward the 99% RTP.
Provably Fair on Stake Originals
Stake's Baccarat Original uses a cryptographic provably fair system. Card placements are committed before each hand — not reactive to your bet. You can verify any hand after it completes.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Betting Tie expecting its 8× payout to compensate for the ~14% house edge — it does not long-term
Using Martingale without a strict doubling cap — Banker losing streaks of 8+ rounds do happen
Switching between Banker and Player bets based on recent pattern-spotting — outcomes are independent
Not accounting for the 5% Banker commission when calculating session profit expectations
