Max Payout
Per round cap on Stake
Video Poker's maximum payout is 800× your bet — paid exclusively on a Royal Flush (A-K-Q-J-10 of the same suit). Unlike other Stake Originals where multipliers can theoretically be unlimited, Video Poker's max multiplier is fixed at 800×. To collect the $500,000 platform cap, you need to bet $625 and land a Royal Flush.
The natural odds of hitting a Royal Flush on the initial 5-card deal are 1 in 649,740. With optimal hold strategy (keeping 4-card Royal Flush draws), the effective odds improve to approximately 1 in 40,000 per hand — making it the most commonly documented max-win hand in Stake Video Poker over long sessions.
Unlike chance-only games, strategy meaningfully affects your Royal Flush frequency. Always discard a completed Straight, Flush, or even a Full House if you hold 4 cards to a Royal Flush — the expected value of drawing for the Royal outweighs the guaranteed lower payout in most pay tables.
How Video Poker Works
You're dealt 5 cards from a standard 52-card deck. You decide which cards to Hold and which to discard. After selecting your holds, you click Draw — the discarded cards are replaced with new ones from the deck.
Your final 5-card hand is evaluated against the pay table. A minimum of Jacks or Better (a pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces) is required to win. Stronger hands pay higher multipliers, up to 800× for a Royal Flush.
Unlike slots, Video Poker involves genuine strategic decisions — which cards you hold directly affects your expected outcome. With perfect strategy, the RTP reaches 99.54%, making it one of the best-paying casino games available.

Optimal Hold Strategy
Following optimal hold strategy in Jacks or Better brings the RTP to 99.54%. These are the most important rules in order of priority:
Always hold a made Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, or Straight
Hold Three of a Kind — draw 2 cards hoping for Four of a Kind or Full House
Hold 4 cards to a Royal Flush — discard the 5th even if it makes a pair or flush
Hold Two Pair — discard the 5th card and draw one hoping for Full House
Hold a high pair (Jacks or Better) even over a 4-card flush or 4-card straight
Hold 4 cards to a Straight Flush — this beats holding a low pair (2s–10s)
Hold low pairs (2s–10s) over 3 to a Royal Flush only in specific cases
Hold 3 to a Royal Flush over 4 to a lesser flush or straight
If none of the above apply, hold the highest single card (Jack or above)
