The verified maximum multiplier in Stake Snakes is 1,851,776× — achieved by successfully completing a very long chain of snake movements without hitting a wall or yourself. Snakes' compounding mechanic means each safe step adds to the multiplier, making extended streaks extremely valuable but also extremely rare.

Stake's $500,000 per-round cap applies regardless of multiplier. Most practical Snakes play targets medium-length runs — the game rewards disciplined early cash-outs over chasing maximum chains, given that the risk of failure compounds with every additional step.

How Stake Snakes Works

Snakes is directly inspired by the classic Snakes & Ladders board game. The gameboard has 12 spaces, each containing either a multiplier or a snake. You roll two dice, add the total, and advance that many spaces around the board.

Landing on a multiplier space pays out that multiplier times your bet. Landing on a snake ends the round — your wager is lost. The dice totals determine where you move, and the board layout is provably fair-determined before each round.

Despite its simple mechanics, the random multiplier distribution across the board and the snake placements create genuine variance — some rounds can yield very large multipliers, making Snakes one of the more volatile Stake Originals for its simplicity.

How to Play Snakes on Stake

1

Set Your Wager

Enter your bet amount. Snakes supports all Stake-compatible cryptocurrencies. Set a consistent bet size before starting your session.

2

Roll the Dice

Hit the Bet button to roll two dice. The total of the two dice determines how many spaces you advance on the 12-space board.

3

Land on a Multiplier or Snake

If you land on a multiplier space, that multiplier is applied to your bet and paid out immediately. If you land on a snake, the round ends and your bet is lost.

4

Use Auto-Bet for Volume

Snakes supports Auto-Bet. Set your bet amount, number of rolls, and optional stop conditions. This lets you run systematic sessions without manual clicking.

Snakes Strategies

Flat Betting Across All Rounds

Since each roll is fully independent and you have no input on where you land, flat betting is the most rational approach. Bet 1–2% of your bankroll per round and let the variance play out naturally.

Use Auto-Bet with Stop Conditions

Enable Auto-Bet with a stop-on-profit of +50% and a stop-on-loss of -30% of your session budget. Let it run without watching. Removing emotional reactions from individual outcomes is the best thing you can do in Snakes.

Understand the Board Distribution

Before each session, note which spaces hold multipliers and which hold snakes on the current board layout. Understanding how many spaces are snakes vs. multipliers gives you an honest picture of your win probability per roll.

Session Budgeting

Snakes is a high-variance game. Some sessions produce strings of snakes; others deliver big multiplier hits. Pre-set a hard session budget and stop when it's gone — don't reload mid-session chasing losses.

Provably Fair Verification

Every Snakes dice roll and board outcome is determined by a cryptographic server seed committed to before the round starts. After each round, the seed is revealed — you can independently verify the result on Stake's fairness tab. The board layout and dice outcomes are fully auditable.
